Dear Practice Members,
I sincerely hope that you and your family and friends are doing well at this challenging time. So much has changed in the world since our last visit and I sincerely regret that your NetworkSpinal care has been abruptly interrupted. Your health and well-being, as well as that of our community, is always my primary concern. I would like to take this opportunity to touch base with you and give you an update on the status of my office. If you have any questions, concerns or would like some advice about your health and wellbeing, please feel free to reach out to me by clicking Ask drMike or simply txt/email me at any time. I will be more than happy to help you out.
Although the Province has mandated that chiropractic is an essential service, in order to meet the necessary precautions mandated by Ontario Public Health and by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario(CCO), my ability to be of service is limited to providing URGENT CARE only. This is not in alignment with my purpose in providing the service that I offer in my practice as I provide chiropractic care as a means of increasing your health and wellbeing, your ability to be healthy and resilient to the effects of stress and outside influences, to heal and recover from the challenges and traumas that life often presents, and to provide a vehicle for transformation and awakening. WOW! That sounds exactly like what we all need and could use right about now!!! However, as we navigate through the challenging measures imposed upon on all of us, and their detrimental effects on our physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing, please remember this:
GREAT HEALTH IS THE BEST DEFENCE AGAINST ANY DISEASE
If you find yourself experiencing a change in functional abilities, having restrictions, injuries, or pain which interferes with your ability to carry out normal functioning, or if you are feeling overwhelmed and in need of support, please feel free to reach out to me.
As a community, we have been put on PAUSE. Pause on work, pause on school, pause on in-person relationships, and pause on our civil rights and freedoms. However, I truly feel that now more than ever, it is critical not to press pause on your health.
Research demonstrates that even if a patient changes their diet, exercises, meditates, and performs other health promoting practices, this does not predict greater wellness unless there is also a greater level of life enjoyment. This supports the concept that an internal state of wellbeing helps empower the educated choices we make, and that simply doing the "right" things does not necessarily produce wellness and health. Increased wellness helps your lifestyle choices to work for you. This is the reason why your Network Spinal Care is such an important part of your healthy lifestyle. In the absence of regular entrainment session visits, and as we are forced to continue with self-isolation, I strongly suggest that you include the following lifestyle strategies in conjunction with the 12 Stages of Healing exercises (see below) in order to continue building on your health and wellbeing: (HINT: for best results, do them all)
Stay hydrated. Make sure that you drink enough water and/or consume enough fresh ripe fruits so that you pass relatively clear urine 8-10 times per day.
Stay away from stimulants such as coffee and tea. There are much better ways to get antioxidants such as by consuming wholesome plant foods. You do not "need" these beverages if you are eating, hydrating, exercising, and sleeping properly. Plus the adrenaline boost that you experience from the caffeine is not without cost to your health. (Its called a stimulant for reason)
Make sure that you are consuming enough calories to support your level of activity. Don't be carbophobic, this macronutrient is the primary currency of energy in your body. Low carb = Low life participation, it's like not having enough gas in your car to reach your destination. Never under eat and stay away from processed foods.
Get out into the sun and exercise daily. Find an activity that you can do safely and that you enjoy. Move your body and get your heart rate up for sustained periods of time. Avoid sitting still for prolonged periods.
Limit your screen time. Don’t make a habit of staring at artificial lights! Especially no phones or other devices in bed. Please do not focus on the mainstream media. This only serves to invoke fear and panic.
Get to bed by 9:30-10:00 pm at the latest, unless you do shift work and simply can not.
Find ways to de-stress which work for you. Limit your exposure to mainstream media and social media. Instead, use this time to connect with your body, the earth, and the fields of energy that surround you, which shape your life, your health, your relationships, and reality as you know it.
Learn the 12 Stages of Healing and make it a daily practice (see below). This will allow you to maximize the beneficial effects of the advice which I have provided above.
Resume your NetworkSpinal chiropractic care as soon as this is feasible.
If you have been contemplating adopting a more plant-based dietary lifestyle, this is a great time to do so. I have been flourishing on a vegan lifestyle for the past 7 years and can offer you some wisdom and advice on how to do this successfully. Although I have done this primarily for ethical reasons, my health, stamina, endurance, and recoverability have all skyrocketed as a result. With so much time on our hands, why not experiment with some delicious new culinary creations which will leave you feeling energized and vibrant? Whole food plant-based staple foods are micronutrient-rich, they are the most economical, healthy, and abundantly available foods in most supermarkets at this time and you will never lack variety or flavor in your meals.
I am pleased to be able to be of service to you and your family during this challenging time. If you have any questions or would like some advice during this global crisis, please feel free to reach out to me. The best way to get a hold of me is by texting 416-500-5437 or by email: email@example.com
